Description
A Victorian-era brass firemans helmet in the Merryweather pattern, specifically manufactured for the Metropolitan Fire Brigade (MFB) of London. The helmet is constructed from polished brass and features a prominent high ornamental comb with elaborate scrolled decoration along the sides. The front of the helmet is adorned with an embossed brass plate featuring the raised initials MFB. Above these letters is an arc of smaller embossed text, which is partially legible. The helmet is fitted with a leather chin strap reinforced with overlapping brass scales. An auction house lot sticker numbered 8814 is visible on the front plate. REPLICA
