Description
A First World War British War Medal (1914-1918) struck in silver. The obverse features the bareheaded effigy of King George V facing left, surrounded by the Latin inscription GEORGIVS V BRITT: OMN: REX ET IND: IMP:. The reverse shows St. George on horseback trampling a Prussian eagle shield and a skull and crossbones, with the dates 1914 and 1918 positioned at the sides. The edge of the disc is officially impressed with the recipient’s service details: 1972 PTE. L. SCOTT. R.A.M.C. The medal is suspended from its original pattern silk ribbon, which features a wide orange centre stripe flanked by thin stripes of white, black, and royal blue.
