A Royal Crown Derby Traditional Imari Pattern 2451 Bone China Cup and Saucer
Description
A fine Royal Crown Derby bone china cup and saucer set, decorated in the celebrated Traditional Imari pattern, number 2451. The set features a sophisticated palette of underglaze cobalt blue and overglaze iron red, enriched with hand-painted gilding. The design is composed of segmented panels containing stylised floral and foliate motifs, characteristic of the Derby interpretation of Japanese Imari wares. The cup is designed with a fully gilded ring handle and a plain white interior. Both pieces bear the red Royal Crown Derby printed backstamp with ENGLAND, alongside the hand-painted pattern number 2451 in red. This mark suggests a production date in the late 19th or early 20th century. Saucer diameter approximately 14 cm; cup height approximately 5 cm.
Condition report:
The set is presented in good overall condition with vibrant colours and well-preserved gilding. There are no apparent chips, cracks, or restorations. A small adhesive lot label is currently attached to the exterior of the cup.
