Description
A fine Royal Crown Derby coffee can and saucer set, expertly crafted from Shelly. The set is decorated in the celebrated Traditional Imari pattern, number 2451, which is characterised by its intricate hand-painted floral and geometric motifs. The palette consists of deep cobalt blue and vibrant iron red, further enhanced by lavish gilding on a crisp white ground. The cup features a classic cylindrical can shape with a gilded loop handle. Both pieces bear the Royal Crown Derby red backstamp including the crown and cypher, the word ENGLAND, and the pattern number 2451. Small green hand-painted characters are also visible on the undersides. This pattern remains one of the most iconic examples of English ceramic decoration, reflecting the Victorian fascination with Eastern aesthetics. Cup height: 5.7 centimetres. Saucer diameter: 12 centimetres.
Condition report:
The set is presented in good condition with no visible chips, cracks, or crazing. The gilding is well-preserved with only negligible surface wear consistent with age. A temporary paper inventory label is present on the side of the cup.
