Kaiser Porcelain Siam Pattern Imari Style Decorative Charger
Description
A large decorative porcelain charger produced by Kaiser Porcelain, West Germany, as part of the Siam collection. The piece is transfer-decorated in the Imari style, featuring a central circular medallion with a blue and white landscape scene depicting figures and traditional architecture. This central motif is encircled by a broad terracotta-red border densely decorated with gold-toned scrolling filigree. Four cloud-shaped vignettes are positioned within the border, each containing a blue and white portrait of a traditional figure. The rim is finished with a gilt edge. The reverse of the plate features a blue underglaze maker mark consisting of a crown above the intertwined letters AK, followed by KAISER and W. GERMANY. Additional red overglaze inscriptions include the pattern name Siam and text in German, English, and French identifying the piece as a reproduction of originals from ancient civilisations of the Far East. The number 33 is printed in red at the base. A cord for wall hanging is securely attached to the foot rim.
