A 19th Century Scottish Ram's Horn Table Snuff Mull
Description
A Scottish ram’s horn table snuff mull mounted upon a rectangular dark-stained wooden plinth. The horn is fitted with white metal mounts, including a circular hinged lid at the tip and a central collar. Both the lid and the collar feature a large inset faceted red stone, and the collar is further decorated with a repoussé thistle design. A white metal framework implement rack is mounted to the rear of the wooden base, connected to the central horn mount by two short white metal chains. A white adhesive label is affixed to the wooden base, printed SHELBYS AUCTIONEERS LOT 319 01132502626. A second smaller white adhesive label is handwritten 12950 over P. No hallmarks or maker’s marks are legible on the metalwork.
