A Collection of Royal Crown Derby Miniature Porcelain Bear Figurines
Description
A collection of four Royal Crown Derby miniature porcelain bear figurines from the fine bone china Miniature Bear series. The group comprises “Claude” the artist bear, depicted holding a palette and paintbrush; “Alice” the cook, decorated with a blue and white checkered bodice and a white apron featuring red hearts; “Herb” the gardener, carrying a basket of flowers and wearing an apron with garden tools; and a fourth bear wearing a red and gold-trimmed waistcoat and carrying a gold sack. Each figure is finished with polychrome enamel colours and 22ct gold gilding. All four items retain their original gold-toned ceramic stoppers, signifying first-quality production. The bases bear the standard Royal Crown Derby red backstamp and date ciphers, including MMV (2005) for Claude and MMIV (2004) for Alice. Several bases also display hand-painted decorator marks in red.
