A Collection of Vintage Items Including a Wooden Clarinet, an Airweigh Postal Scale, and a Pair of Barley Twist Candlesticks
Description
A collection of vintage domestic and musical items. The group includes a wooden clarinet featuring a dark-stained body with brass keywork and bands, and a separate weathered mouthpiece. The instrument has simple system keywork and exhibits faint, illegible marks on the upper and middle joints. Also included is a British postal scale, featuring a black-painted cast metal base, a circular brass weight pan, and a rectangular metal platform. A white label on the base is printed with LETTER AIRWEIGH BALANCE and FOR LETTERS AND PRINTED PAPERS. The scale is accompanied by its original green and black cardboard box, which bears a printed label reading AIRWEIGH LETTER BALANCE and further text below stating MADE IN ENGLAND BY UNIVERSAL WOODWORKING CO. LTD. BIRMINGHAM. Completing the collection is a pair of open-twist (barley twist) wooden candlesticks, crafted from a dark reddish-brown hardwood. Each candlestick features a double-helix stem on a circular stepped base with a turned sconce.
