A Mid-20th Century Stained Hardwood Chest of Four Drawers
Description
A mid-20th-century chest of four drawers, constructed from a stained hardwood, possibly mahogany or beech. The chest features a utilitarian design typical of post-war British domestic furniture. It is configured with four full-width drawers, each equipped with two circular, pressed metal knobs featuring an embossed rosette motif. The top surface is fitted with a low rectangular gallery or upstand at the rear. The base is finished with a simple scalloped apron between square-section feet. The drawer construction appears to be machine-cut, consistent with mass-produced furniture of the period. No maker’s marks or labels are visible.
