A Collection of Mission Development Company Stock Certificates bearing the Signature of J. Paul Getty
Description
This collection consists of several vintage stock certificates issued by the Mission Development Company, a corporation incorporated under the laws of the State of Delaware. The documents are printed in two primary colour schemes, blue and reddish-brown, and are issued for denominations including one share and one hundred shares. Each certificate features a centrally positioned steel-engraved allegorical vignette depicting a seated female figure flanked by classical motifs, set within an ornate geometric border.
A notable feature of these certificates is the facsimile signature of industrialist J. Paul Getty, who served as the company President. The documents date from the early 1950s, with visible dates including 19 April 1951, 14 April 1952, and 27 October 1954. Various serial numbers are present across the collection, such as N017301, N26415, and N39348. The certificates include printed and embossed seals, as well as signatures from company secretaries and transfer agents including The Chase National Bank of the City of New York and Guaranty Trust Company of New York.
