A Collection of Four Pennsylvania and Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Stock Certificates
Description
A collection of four vintage American railroad stock certificates representing two historically significant transport companies. Two certificates are from The Pennsylvania Railroad Company, incorporated in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania on 13 April 1846. These include certificate number S174240 for ten shares dated 27 August 1963, and number S110016 for five shares dated 26 February 1963. Both Pennsylvania Railroad documents feature a detailed orange decorative border and a central vignette depicting a steam locomotive passing through an archway flanked by allegorical figures.
The remaining two certificates are for The Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company, incorporated in the State of Maryland on 28 February 1827. These are for one hundred shares each, numbered C442510 and dated 18 July 1952, and C547148 dated 21 January 1959. These documents are designed with a brown decorative border and a central vignette of a steam engine pulling a freight train through a landscape. All certificates bear facsimile and/or handwritten signatures of company presidents and secretaries, along with transfer agent markings and various stamps.
