Description
A collection of British commemorative military memorabilia and numismatic items. The focal point is a World War I commemorative souvenir textile, possibly printed silk or satin. The design features a central grid with portraits of King George V and Tsar Nicholas II of Russia. The grid displays various flags of the Allied nations, including the Union Jack, the French Tricolour, the Imperial Russian flag, the Japanese Rising Sun, and the flags of Belgium, Italy, and Montenegro. The lower section depicts multiple British regimental crests, including the Northamptonshire Regiment, and a series of British military medals such as the Victoria Cross and Distinguished Service Order. The textile is finished with an applied cream rope-twist cord border.
The collection includes several commemorative numismatic sets. There are three Royal Mint 1995 Brilliant Uncirculated £2 coin sets marking the 50th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. These are housed in blue presentation folders featuring a white dove and the inscription In Peace Goodwill 1945 – 1995. Also included is a VE Day 75th Anniversary commemorative coin set (1945-2020) in a red presentation folder, containing four medallions including a Union Jack design with the word Victory. This folder bears a handwritten sticker numbered 9777.
