Two Prints: HRH The Prince of Wales View in South of France and a Multi-Signed Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Print
Description
This lot features two unframed commemorative prints. The first is a large-format colour reproduction, an offset lithograph, depicting the aircraft of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF) in formation, including a Hawker Hurricane Mk IIC (serial LF363, coded YB-W), a Supermarine Spitfire (coded RF-D), and an Avro Lancaster bomber over a landscape. The lower white margin is extensively hand-signed in ink and pencil by numerous Royal Air Force veterans and aircrew. Legible signatures include Air Commodore Pete Brothers (CBE DSO DFC and Bar), Squadron Leader Geoffrey Wellum (DFC, 92 Squadron), Wing Commander Bob Foster (DFC, 605 Squadron), Squadron Leader Tony Pickering (501 Squadron), Geoff Goodman (150 Squadron), Peter Bray (148 Squadron), Nigel Rose (602 Squadron), and John Keating, among many others.
The second item is a colour reproduction print of a watercolour landscape titled View in South of France by HRH The Prince of Wales (now HM King Charles III). This print was commissioned by The Mail on Sunday in aid of The Phoenix Trust. It is numbered 9067 and is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity from The Phoenix Trust, signed by the chairman Sir Jocelyn Stevens.
