Lot 183:
A Collection of American Telephone and Telegraph Company Stock Certificates
Description
This collection consists of multiple vintage stock certificates issued by the American Telephone and Telegraph Company, a historically significant pioneer in the telecommunications industry. The company is incorporated in the State of New York. The certificates represent various share denominations, including round lots of 100 shares and odd-lot amounts, with issue dates spanning from the early 1960s to the early 1970s. Each document features a central engraved vignette depicting a portrait of Alexander Graham Bell, flanked by allegorical figures and telecommunications infrastructure including telephone poles and lines. The certificates display a variety of colour-coded engraved guilloche borders in green, orange, brown, and grey. Signatures are present on the documents, including facsimile signatures for the president, Joe Kappel, and the treasurer. Printed transfer agent marks for the Bankers Trust Company are visible. Several items show evidence of being cancelled via circular punch holes.
