An Assortment of Decorative and Functional Cast Brassware including Figurines and Lighting
Description
An assortment of decorative and functional yellow brass items, predominantly of cast construction with some spun and soldered components. The collection includes a pair of rearing horse figurines, each mounted on an integral stepped circular base. Lighting elements comprise a cylindrical lamp designed in the style of a miner’s safety lamp with a loop carrying handle, and two oil lamp font bases; one is fitted with a burner assembly, while the other has been converted for electrical use and retains a white power cord. Candlesticks include a pair of baluster-form examples on hexagonal bases and a single smaller turned brass candlestick on a circular base. The lot also features a group of traditional cast brass items, including four horse brasses with motifs of a ten-spoke cartwheel, a crown within a laurel wreath, an elephant, and a standing horse. Also present is a small horseshoe-shaped piece and a larger flat-backed plaque in the form of a wild boar. A white paper lot sticker marked 9776 B is affixed to the cylindrical lamp.
