Description
Cassell’s Illustrated Family Bible, published by Cassell, Petter, and Galpin of London and New York. This large-format folio volume contains the Old and New Testaments, featuring explanatory notes, references, and a condensed concordance. As stated on the title page, the work is illustrated with more than nine hundred engravings. The volume is bound in dark, pebble-grained leather with five raised bands on the spine and the title Holy Bible stamped in gilt. The publication carries the imprint of Cassell, Petter, and Galpin, which identifies the production period as being between 1858 and 1883. The interior features a decorative title page with a religious engraving and a formal typographical title page.
