A Collection of Hand-Painted Lead Military Miniatures Depicting a British Highland Regiment
Description
A collection of hand-painted lead or white metal alloy military miniatures depicting a 19th-century British Highland Regiment, possibly the 92nd (Gordon) Highlanders. The figures are rendered in a traditional toy soldier style, featuring red tunics with yellow facings, kilts with distinct sporrans, and feather bonnets. The assortment includes a mounted officer on a dark brown horse, two standard bearers carrying the Union Jack and a Regimental Colour, and several standing infantrymen including NCOs or officers armed with spontoons and swords. Two figures are depicted in prone positions as battlefield casualties. Each figure is set upon an integrated green-painted metal base. The manufacture is in the style of traditional makers such as W. Britain or Marlborough. One figure has an adhesive tag marked 501.
