Description

A topographical watercolour painting on paper with gouache highlights, attributed to the Wakefield artist Louisa Fennell. The work depicts a traditional English street scene, featuring characteristic red brick architecture and shopfronts. A prominent curved building to the upper right displays a green fascia board with partial text reading TIME, while a shopfront in the lower middle ground includes the letters LLS. The composition is populated by a single figure on the cobbled street, set against a backdrop of distant industrial chimneys. The artist’s signature, L. Fennell, is located in the lower right corner. The painting is presented behind glass within a dark green mat and a moulded gilt-finished frame. An auction lot label (9254) is adhered to the glass. A yellow measuring tape is visible at the top of the frame for scale.

Frame width: approximately 42 cm.
