A Smiths brass cased quartz lantern mantel clock
Description
A 20th-century brass-cased lantern mantel clock produced by the Smiths Industries Clock Company in Great Britain. This reproduction piece follows a traditional 17th-century English design, featuring a domed top with a bell and turned finial, pierced scrolling foliate fretwork galleries, and four corner pillars resting on ball feet. The circular brass dial is decorated with an engraved floral centre and a chapter ring displaying black Roman numeral hour markers. The dial is signed Smiths above the centre and Made in Great Britain below. The hinged rear door opens to reveal a modern quartz battery-operated movement embossed with Smiths Industries Clock Company, alongside an original manufacturer label for Smiths Clocks and Watches Ltd and printed operating instructions.
