A Collection of Chinese Style Decorative Stone and Glass Carvings
Description
A group of decorative objects in the Chinese style, comprising a multi-coloured soapstone carving of a long-tailed bird amongst peonies and rockwork; a pale soapstone figurine of an elephant; a light-coloured stone carving of a mythical beast in a recumbent pose; two clusters of green hardstone grapes on simulated wood stems; a green glass or hardstone figure of a frog resting on a veined leaf; and a rectangular pink translucent stone piece with an applied metal insect-form ornament. One grape cluster features a white inventory label with the handwritten characters 4750 D. The items are fashioned from soapstone, various hardstones including green and pink varieties, glass, and metal. These pieces are likely of 20th-century production. No reign or maker marks are visible.
