Lot 385:
A Collection of English Transferware and Floral Decorated Ceramic Tableware
Description
A collection comprising two distinct patterns of mid-20th-century English ceramics. The first group consists of brown transfer-printed earthenware in a traditional Staffordshire style, featuring rural landscape vignettes with cottages and wooded areas within ornate foliate and scroll borders. This group includes several tea or coffee cups and a stack of matching saucers or small plates. The second group is a partial tea service of fine earthenware or bone china, featuring yellow and green floral sprays resembling primroses or wildflowers. These pieces are characterised by a fluted ribstone body and scalloped rims, in a style consistent with Duchess Bone China Golden Cascade or similar designs. This service includes tea cups, multiple saucers, a coordinating cream jug, and a larger handled serving plate. Both sets utilise transfer-printing techniques typical of British commercial production of the period. Factory marks are present to the underside of several pieces but are not clearly legible from the overview image. One cup bears a handwritten price or lot sticker to the base.
