UK Mid-20th Century Regional and Commemorative Stamp Collection
Description
A collection of Great Britain and Regional postal issues comprising two partially filled albums, an assortment of loose stamps, and two vintage philatelic guidebooks. The collection focuses on UK regional issues including Guernsey, Jersey, the Isle of Man, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. Identifiable definitive series include Queen Elizabeth II Wilding and Machin types. Commemorative issues include the 1948 Olympic Games, 1964 Forth Road Bridge, Botanical Congress, and International Geographical Congress sets. Denominations visible range from 1/2d to 1/6. The stamps are predominantly perforated and include a mix of used examples with circular date stamp cancellations and unused specimens. Included are two vintage XLCR Stamp Finder and Collector’s Dictionary booklets published by Thomas Cliffe of The Philatelic Factory, Rhyl. The loose stamps are contained within a cardboard box lid marked with the number 9717.
