A Twenty-One Piece Old Royal Bone China Tea Service in Pattern 3196
Description
An Old Royal Bone China tea service manufactured by Sampson Smith Ltd of Longton, Staffordshire. The service consists of twenty-one pieces including six teacups, six saucers, six side plates, one twin-handled square cake plate, one open sugar bowl, and one cream jug. Each piece is decorated with a pale pink ground and a central transfer-printed floral spray featuring a pink rose. The pieces have scalloped, lobed rims with hand-applied gold gilding to the edges, handles, and bases. The cake plate features additional gilt scrollwork at the corners. Marks to the underside include a green crown backstamp for Old Royal Bone China, England, and the pattern number 3196.
