An Assortment of British Second World War Medals and Insignia including Air Crew Europe Star and 7th Armoured Division Formation Sign
Description
An assortment of British military awards and insignia from the Second World War period. The collection includes a cloth formation sign for the 7th Armoured Division, known as the Desert Rats, featuring an embroidered orange jerboa on a black rectangular background. The medals include an Air Crew Europe Star, being a bronze six-pointed star with the Royal Cypher of King George VI (GRI VI) at the centre, suspended from a ribbon of light blue with black and yellow edges. Also present is an Atlantic Star, a bronze six-pointed star with a Royal Cypher, suspended from a watered silk ribbon with shaded stripes of blue, white, and sea-green; this medal is fitted with a silver-coloured clasp embossed with the word ATLANTIC. The grouping further includes an oval silver-coloured Efficiency Medal (Territorial) featuring the Royal Cypher of King George VI (GRI VI) on the obverse, suspended from a green ribbon with yellow borders and fitted with a silver-coloured territorial clasp. A small white paper tag with the handwritten number 9703 is attached to the Atlantic Star.
