British Second World War Burma Star Campaign Medal
Description
The Burma Star. An original British Second World War campaign medal awarded for service in the Burma Campaign between 1941 and 1945. The award is a six-pointed bronze star. The obverse features a central medallion with the Royal Cypher of King George VI (GRI VI) surmounted by a crown, enclosed within a circular band bearing the title THE BURMA STAR. The reverse of the medal is plain and unnamed, as was standard for British issue. The star is suspended by a ring from its original silk ribbon which features vertical stripes of dark blue, orange, and a central red stripe.
