A Collection of Vintage Britains Hollow-cast Lead Toy Soldiers
Description
A collection of vintage hollow-cast lead toy soldiers manufactured by W. Britain, as evidenced by the markings BRITAINS and ENGLAND incised on the bases. The assortment features various members of the British Army in ceremonial dress. Included is a Goat Major with a white goat mascot, associated with the Royal Welch Fusiliers, alongside a standard bearer carrying a Union Jack flag. The group further comprises figures in the ceremonial dress of the Foot Guards wearing bearskin caps, soldiers in peaked caps, and figures wearing spiked Home Service helmets. Several animal mascots are included, such as a dog wearing a red coat. The figures are hand-painted lead.
