A Collection of Carthaginian and Roman Military Miniatures Including a War Elephant
Description
A collection of hand-painted military miniatures depicting ancient warfare from the Punic Wars, in the style of manufacturers such as The Collectors Showcase. The group features a detailed Carthaginian war elephant equipped with a wooden-style howdah carrying two soldiers, with an additional driver figure positioned at the front. The elephant is decorated with a red and white circular head ornament and protective plate. Accompanying the elephant are several individual foot soldiers in various combat poses, including Roman legionaries and Carthaginian infantry. The figures are dressed in historically inspired military attire, including mail armour, tunics, and plumed helmets, and are equipped with a range of weaponry such as spears, swords, and different shield types including oval and rectangular scuta. Each figure is mounted on an integral, textured circular or oval base. One base features a white adhesive label with the handwritten inventory number 9703.
