A Trio of Victorian Bone and Metal Desk Wax Seals
Description
This lot comprises a trio of antique Victorian desk wax seals. The handles are constructed from turned and carved light-coloured organic materials, likely bone or ivory, showing characteristic grain and natural pitting. The largest seal features a fluted handle with a bulbous terminal and carved foliate and collar details near the base, fitted with a decorative white metal seal head displaying embossed scrollwork. The medium seal has a thick, bulbous turned handle and a brass seal head with a threaded neck. The smallest seal is of slender turned form with a brass base featuring open-work cage detailing. These items are characteristic of Victorian or Edwardian British desk accessories.
