Large Mason's Patent Ironstone Vista Pattern Blue and White Transferware Charger
Description
A large circular charger produced by Mason’s Patent Ironstone China of England, decorated in the celebrated Vista pattern. This blue and white transferware piece features a central circular medallion depicting a stately manor house set within a pastoral landscape, with figures positioned on a balustraded terrace. The central scene is framed by a broad and ornate border of lush grape leaves and scrolling vines. The underside bears a blue printed maker’s mark reading MASON’S PATENT IRONSTONE CHINA, VISTA, ENGLAND, accompanied by an impressed numeric mark. The ceramic body is finished in a light cream glaze. This pattern, originally introduced in the 19th century, remained a staple of English ironstone production through the mid-20th century. Diameter: Approximately 38 cm.
Condition report:
The charger is in good vintage condition with fine crazing to the glaze consistent with age. There is minor surface accumulation present. No chips, cracks, or restorations are visible. A wire plate hanger is currently attached to the rim.
