Lot 162:
A Group of English Copper Lustreware and a Doulton Lambeth Stoneware Vase
Description
A collection of five English ceramic vessels comprising a tall tapered stoneware vase and four pieces of copper lustreware. The stoneware vase features a matte dark brown body decorated with a hand-painted polychrome bird perched upon a blossoming branch in the Aesthetic Movement taste. The underside of the vase bears an impressed alphanumeric code 1836M and a partially obscured semicircular factory mark for Doulton Lambeth. The lustreware group includes three small pitchers and a footed bowl, all finished with a traditional copper metallic glaze. The pitchers are further embellished with cobalt blue bands featuring relief-moulded figurative scenes, while the footed bowl is decorated with hand-painted floral motifs in pink, yellow, and green enamels. Vase height: 25 cm. Pitcher heights: 10 cm.
Condition report:
The collection is in good overall condition. There is minor surface wear and rubbing to the lustre glaze, particularly on the rims and handles, consistent with mid-19th century age. The stoneware vase retains a paper inventory label. No significant chips, cracks, or restorations are observed.
