Kieninger & Obergfell (Kundo), Anniversary Torsion Pendulum Mantel Clock, Mid-20th Century
Description
A mid-20th century German anniversary torsion pendulum mantel clock manufactured by Kieninger & Obergfell (Kundo). The mechanical torsion movement features a three-ball pendulum and is designed to run for 400 days on a single winding. The movement is housed within a polished brass frame supported by two pale green enamelled pillars with hand-painted floral motifs. The matching pale green enamelled dial features central floral decorations and applied gold-tone Arabic numerals. The clock is protected by a clear glass dome and rests upon a circular white-painted wooden base. The movement is silent with no chime complications. Dimensions: Approximately 28-30.5 cm (11-12 inches) in height including dome.
Condition report:
The working status of the movement is unknown. The clock appears to be in fair to good vintage condition. There is visible chipping and loss to the green enamelled paint on the lower base rim. The brass components exhibit minor surface oxidation and patination consistent with age. The glass dome is intact and free from cracks. The dial, hands, and pendulum appear to be original and are well-preserved.
