Description

A decorative ceramic ewer of bulbous form, likely of Continental origin, dating to the late 19th century. The vessel is designed with a striking green-ground body and a contrasting matte orange-toned neck and loop handle. The body is embellished with cream-coloured cartouches, each featuring hand-painted floral sprays in a palette of pink, purple, and yellow. These motifs are further enhanced by elaborate gilded foliate scrolls and borders executed in the Neo-Renaissance style. The unglazed foot rim is marked with impressed numerical and alphabetical characters, and the base features a single blue underglaze dot. Height: approximately 21.5 cm.

Condition report:

The piece presents in good condition overall. There is some minor thinning to the gilding on the high points and light surface marks consistent with age. No chips, cracks, or repairs are visible. An auction house inventory sticker is present on the body.
