Continental Porcelain, Shepherd and Shepherdess Spill Vases
Description
A pair of late 19th or early 20th-century Continental porcelain figurines designed as spill vases or decorative mantle ornaments. The set features a gentleman and a lady dressed in an idealised 18th-century shepherd and shepherdess style. The female figure wears a wide-brimmed hat, a pale green bodice, and a white skirt decorated with hand-painted floral sprigs. The male figure wears a tricorn-style hat, a light blue jacket with pink accents, and breeches with matching floral patterns. Each figure stands beside a fluted, shell-like upright vessel set upon an ornate, rococo-style scrolled base highlighted with pink and gilt. Both pieces are further embellished with delicate, hand-applied pink roses and green foliage. No visible factory or decorator marks are present. Height: 14 cm.
Condition report:
Good overall antique condition with no major cracks or visible professional repairs. Minor, typical losses and small nicks are present to the petals of the applied roses and leaf tips. There is light wear to the gilded highlights on the bases.
