Description

A George II style mahogany drop-leaf dining table, dating to the early 20th century Colonial Revival period. The table features an oval top with two hinged leaves, supported by a gate-leg mechanism with swing-out supports. The piece is crafted from solid mahogany with a deep, dark-stained colour finish and is raised on four slender cabriole legs terminating in simple pad feet. The construction employs traditional mortise and tenon joinery. This piece is characterised by the early 20th-century interest in 18th-century English furniture design, offering a classic silhouette suitable for both contemporary and traditional interiors. No maker’s labels, stamps, or retailer marks are present. Dimensions: Height 72cm, Width (extended) 122cm, Depth 107cm.

Condition report:

The table remains structurally sound but shows clear evidence of age and use. The finish displays surface scratches, minor abrasions, and several noticeable water rings and stains on the tabletop. A slight gap is present at one of the leg-to-apron joints, though this does not currently affect the stability of the piece. There are no signs of previous woodworm or major structural repairs.
