Description
A Chinese Famille Rose Medallion bulbous pot or planter. The vessel features a wide mouth with a flaring rim and two gilded, zoomorphic handles (possibly foo dogs) on the shoulders. The body is extensively decorated with a dense, intricate green ground adorned with stylized floral scrolls and butterflies, interspersed with several shaped cartouches. These cartouches depict detailed figural scenes in traditional Chinese indoor and outdoor settings, utilizing a polychrome enamel palette including pink, green, blue, yellow, and red. The interior of the mouth is glazed white, and the unglazed foot rim reveals a fine, light-colored ceramic body. A white sticker with the numbers “8784” in red is adhered to the body.
