Description
A William Moorcroft Florian Ware vase, circa 1900. This glazed ceramic vase, likely earthenware or stoneware, features a globular body with a tapering neck and flared rim. Its decoration exhibits prominent Art Nouveau characteristics, with intricate, raised, and flowing stylized floral and foliate motifs rendered in shades of cobalt blue and lighter blue on a white or cream ground. The base, showing minor wear on its unglazed footrim, is marked in reddish-brown text “FLORIAN KARE / A MONTREUIL S/S B/S / MADE IN FRANCE,” alongside abstract green brushstrokes.
