A Collection of American Railroad and Industrial Stock Certificates
Description
A collection of engraved stock certificates representing major American transportation and industrial enterprises from the mid-20th century. The assembly includes certificates for the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad Company printed in blue with vignettes of classical allegorical figures flanking a railway scene. Also included are orange preferred stock certificates for the Missouri Pacific Railroad Company, which feature a detailed central vignette of a steam locomotive and tender. The collection also contains a green common stock certificate for The Lehigh Coal and Navigation Company, incorporated in Pennsylvania, which displays dual portrait vignettes of company founders. The documents feature intricate guilloché borders and various cancellation marks, including circular punch-hole patterns and ink stamps. Each certificate includes printed signatures and hand-signed endorsements by company officials including the President and Secretary.
