Description

An assortment of mid-to-late 20th-century corporate stock certificates representing various industrial, energy, and retail entities. The collection includes issued and cancelled certificates for companies such as Pan American Sulphur Company, Mississippi River Fuel Corporation, Mississippi River Corporation, The Grand Union Company, Basic Resources International (Bahamas) Limited, Sinclair Venezuelan Oil Company, Baker International Corporation, and Great Northern Nekoosa Corporation. These companies were incorporated in various jurisdictions including Delaware, Maine, and the Bahamas.

The documents are printed on heavy paper with intricate guilloche borders in a diverse palette of colours including emerald green, azure blue, burnt orange, crimson, and sepia. Each certificate features a detailed engraved vignette typical of the period. Notable illustrations include a spread-winged bald eagle for Sinclair Venezuelan Oil, industrial manufacturing scenes and workers for Baker International and Great Northern Nekoosa, and classical allegorical figures representing commerce and industry for The Grand Union Company and Mississippi River Corporation.

The certificates display unique serial numbers (e.g., C220691, CN27330, N237149), specified share amounts ranging from fractional units to blocks of one hundred, and facsimile signatures of corporate officers. Dates of issuance visible on the documents range from 1959 through to 1981. Some certificates include the names of previous owners such as Albert Perez or Cudd and Company.
