A Collection of American Railroad Stock Certificates including Pennsylvania and New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad Companies
Description
A collection of engraved stock certificates issued by prominent American railway corporations. The set includes certificates from The New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad Company for less than one hundred shares of Preferred Stock, Convertible 5 per cent Series A. These documents feature a central vignette showing a pair of steam locomotives flanked by seated allegorical figures. Additionally, the collection contains certificates from The Pennsylvania Railroad Company for one hundred shares of capital stock with a par value of ten dollars. One Pennsylvania Railroad certificate is dated 30 November 1964 and displays a central oval vignette depicting a locomotive traversing a mountain pass, bordered by figures representing industry and commerce. All certificates are printed with ornate green borders and include facsimile signatures of the company President and Secretary, as well as various counter-signatures from transfer agents and registrars. These documents represent significant mid-20th-century financial history from the American rail industry.
