A.H. McIntosh Teak Extending Dining Table, Kirkcaldy, Scotland, Circa 1960s
Description
A mid-century modern teak extending dining table manufactured by A.H. McIntosh & Co Ltd of Kirkcaldy, Scotland. This piece is a classic example of British mid-century furniture design influenced by Scandinavian aesthetics. The table features a rectangular top with a central split, intended to house a butterfly leaf extension mechanism. The top is finished in teak veneers showing a consistent colour and prominent grain pattern. It is supported by a clean-lined apron and four slender, tapered round legs. The underside of the table top retains its original rectangular metal identification plate which bears the McIntosh ‘Mc’ logo and the text: A.H. McINTOSH & CO LTD, KIRKCALDY SCOTLAND.
