Lot 453:
An Assortment of Pewter and Base Metal Tankards
Description
An assortment of metal tankards of varying forms and sizes, primarily constructed from pewter-toned base metal. The collection includes a lidded tankard featuring a hand-hammered finish in the Arts and Crafts style, fitted with a flat hinged lid, a cast scroll handle, and a stepped circular base. One smaller tankard features a cast animal figure, possibly a greyhound, integrated into the handle design as a thumbpiece. The remaining vessels are of traditional cylindrical or tapered form, some featuring decorative horizontal incised lines and cast loop handles. One tankard at the rear displays a significantly darker, heavily oxidised patina compared to the others. A white adhesive label with the handwritten number 9776 is attached to the lid of the hammered tankard. The red plastic tray shown in the images is for display purposes only and is not included in the sale.
Largest vessel height: approximately 15 cm.
