A Collection of Decorative Brass and Metalware Including Candlesticks and Horse Brasses
Description
This lot comprises a variety of decorative metal items. Included is a matching pair of polished brass candlesticks, each designed with a traditional turned baluster-form stem set upon a stepped hexagonal base. The collection contains a group of cast brass horse brasses featuring several designs, such as a commemorative piece for the 16 MAYFLOWER 20, topographical examples inscribed THE CORACLE MAN and TYWYN GWYNEDD, and an astrological brass for TAURUS. Other brasses depict a steam locomotive, a castle, and various animal motifs. A small rectangular brass dish with indented corners displays a cast inscription and logo for a Leeds-based restaurant. Completing the group is a whimsical metal figurine of a frog in a seated pose, featuring a textured blue-grey patina on the body and gold-toned limbs and crown.
