Lot 380:
A Collection of Mid-20th Century Ephemera Including Sheet Music, a Framed Advertising Print, and a Boxed Game Set
Description
This lot comprises a collection of vintage paper ephemera and a tabletop game, reflecting mid-20th-century popular culture with a strong British focus. The ephemera includes several vintage sheet music booklets, primarily from the 1930s and 1940s. Identified titles include I’ll String Along With You from the Warner Bros. film 20 Million Sweethearts, published by B. Feldman and Co. of London; Moon Over Miami from the 20th Century Fox film featuring Betty Grable; Smile When You Say Goodbye as featured by Gracie Fields; and a waltz song titled Tears with an Art Deco-influenced cover illustration, published by the Lawrence Wright Music Co. of London.
The lot also contains a framed advertising print for the French coastal town of Boulogne-sur-Mer. The illustration depicts a beach scene with figures in traditional dress, and features the logo for Chocolat Poulain in the lower right corner. It is presented in a simple blue and purple wooden frame.
The game component is a boxed domino set housed in a mahogany-toned wooden case with a brown felt-lined interior and a leather-style strap fastening. The cream-coloured tiles include a standard double-six set alongside tiles marked with numerical values of 100, 500, and 1000, indicating a specific scoring variant of the game.
Visible measurements: The sheet music booklets measure approximately 23 cm in width.
