A Vintage E.A.R. Suitcase Style Portable Record Player
Description
This vintage portable record player was manufactured by Electric Audio Reproducers Ltd. (E.A.R.), a British company known for producing audio equipment in the mid-20th century. The unit is designed in a suitcase style, featuring a two-tone cabinet upholstered in blue and cream-coloured textured Rexine vinyl. The front of the cabinet is fitted with a speaker grille showcasing a grey and white vertical stripe pattern. To the right of the grille is a control panel with three cream rotary knobs for volume and tone adjustments. The interior comprises a light blue deck with a turntable platter, a brown mat, and a white plastic tonearm. A hard-wired power lead with a standard UK three-pin plug is coiled within the unit. The manufacturer is identified by a red and gold shield-shaped emblem on the inner lid and a corresponding small badge on the front speaker grille, both featuring the letters EAR.
