Description
A hand-carved hardwood figurative sculpture in the West African style, possibly representing a fertility figure. The piece features a stylised head with a flattened, broad face, slit-form eyes, and a narrow nose, resting upon a short, thick cylindrical neck. The body is notably bulbous and decorated with deeply incised concentric zigzag and chevron patterns. The sculpture is finished with a warm, reddish-brown stain and a smooth polish. A white adhesive paper label is present on the neck, bearing the handwritten number 9759.
