Alpine Mountain Climber Character Figurine in the Italian Neapolitan Style
Description
A character figurine depicting an Alpine mountain climber in a dynamic, forward-leaning pose, negotiating simulated rocky terrain. The figure is constructed in the Italian Neapolitan style with a hand-painted terracotta or composition head and hands. He is dressed in tailored fabric clothing consisting of a blue and green plaid shirt, brown checked trousers with a matching waistcoat, and a brown pointed felt hat. A length of rope is coiled across his torso, and he holds a natural wood walking stick. The figure is mounted on a simulated rock base, which is fixed to a square dark wood plinth. A white adhesive paper label with the printed number 9754 is present on the wooden base. No maker’s marks or signatures are visible.
