Vintage Hand-Cranked Miniature Sewing Machine on Wooden Base
Description
A vintage hand-cranked miniature sewing machine, likely intended as a toy or child’s model, featuring a red-painted cast metal frame and chrome-plated components. The machine is mounted on a rectangular varnished wooden base. It is operated by a drive wheel with a turned wooden handle, which connects to a visible gear mechanism. The machine includes a chrome-plated sewing plate, a needle bar assembly, and a spindle currently holding a small wooden spool of dark green thread. A white adhesive inventory label marked 7819 is affixed to the sewing plate. The overall design is characteristic of mid-20th-century miniature machines, such as those produced under the Essex or Stitch Mistress brand names, although no maker’s mark is visible. A yellow measuring tape is visible in the background for scale.
