Three Ceramic Figurines including Beswick Beatrix Potter and Goebel
Description
This lot consists of three glazed ceramic figurines. The first is a Beswick Beatrix Potter figure titled Samuel Whiskers, depicting a rat standing in a pale green jacket over a yellow buttoned waistcoat. The base features a black printed factory mark for Beatrix Potter’s Samuel Whiskers, F. Warne and Co. Ltd., Copyright 1948, Beswick England, along with handwritten numbers 11 and 91. The second is a Beswick Beatrix Potter figure titled Ribby, depicting a cat wearing a white apron and a pink and blue shawl while holding a dish. The base bears a black printed factory mark for Beatrix Potter’s Ribby, F. Warne and Co. Ltd., Copyright, Beswick England, with a small handwritten number 14. The third figurine is a Goebel figure of a young girl with brown hair tied with red ribbons, carrying a basket of fruit and a bunch of flowers, with a separate pair of shoes on the circular base. The underside of the Goebel figure features a blue underglaze stamp of a stylised V with a bee, the Goebel name, and W. Germany, alongside an incised mark starting with 97.
