Framed Japanese Woodblock Print After Utagawa Hiroshige, Irises at Horikiri
Description
This is a framed polychrome woodblock print on paper, titled Horikiri no Hanashobu (Irises at Horikiri), originally designed by Utagawa Hiroshige (1797-1858) as part of the series One Hundred Famous Views of Edo (Meisho Edo Hyakkei). The composition features a dramatic close-up of blooming irises in the foreground, overlooking a field of the same flowers and a distant body of water. The print includes three distinct cartouches: a red vertical series title cartouche in the upper left, a yellow rectangular subject title cartouche below it, and a red artist signature cartouche in the upper right. This piece is presented in a deep navy blue velvet-textured mount and housed in a red-stained wooden frame with a gilded inner border. A small adhesive stock label numbered 9747 is located on the bottom right of the mount.
Frame width: approximately 47 cm.
