Description
Louisa Fennell (British, 1847-1930). This water-colour on paper depicts a historical British street scene featuring several figures and a horse-drawn carriage. A prominent Gothic church spire rises in the background, a characteristic subject for the artist who is well-known for her topographical views of Wakefield and the surrounding area. The work is executed in a traditional style using delicate washes and is signed L. Fennell in cursive script in the lower right corner. The painting is presented in a dark green mount and housed within a moulded gilt frame. A small lot sticker numbered 9754 is adhered to the glass surface.
